Beatrice Friedman

Obituary of Beatrice S Friedman

Beatrice S. Friedman, age 95, a resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on July 4, 2023 of natural causes.  Bea was born on January 3, 1928 in Johnstown, PA to Fannie and Moses Silverstone.

Bea graduated from Penn State University in 1950 and moved to New York City where she had a career in Public Relations for General Foods.  While in NYC she met her husband, Bertram Friedman, and they married in 1951.  In 1961 they settled in Stamford where Bea was a resident for over 60 years.

Bea was a lover of the arts, always running to plays, concerts and museums locally and in NYC.  While she retired from her full time job when she had children, she always had a part-time job or volunteer position doing PR or writing newsletters.  She was an avid tennis player until she was in her 80’s, belonging to Roxbury Swim and Tennis Club for over 50 years.  Always an intellect, she also loved to attend continuing education and lifetime learners classes in the area.  Bea loved to travel and did so often, frequently returning to her favorite destination, Italy.

Bea is survived by her children, Andrew (Susan) Friedman and Marcy (Marc) Kurzman, grandchildren, Bari Kurzman, Gregory (Nicole) Kurzman, Jeffrey Kurzman, Jessica Friedman and Emily Friedman and great-grandchildren Olivia and Graham Kurzman.  She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Rhea Abrams, her husband, Bertram Friedman and longtime friend, Peter Riley.

We will miss her optimistic outlook on life and will always admire her ability to live life to its fullest.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Temple Sinai in Stamford.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Avon Theatre (avontheatre.org) or Curtain Call (curtaincallinc.com).
