Marvin Lawrence

Obituary of Marvin M. Lawrence

Marvin Lawrence, 97, of Stamford, passed away with his family at his side on Monday, August 28, 2023. He was born in the Bronx, NY on February 16, 1926, and moved to Stamford in January 1962. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Muriel Lawrence. Marvin has two sons, Jeffrey and Michael, daughter-in-law, Mary Lawrence and grandson, Robby.

Marvin was known for many great qualities, but none bigger than his sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh and was known throughout Stamford as a very funny and entertaining guy, even to strangers. His good nature also carried over to his profession as a home improvement business owner and was part of the Stamford business community for almost 50 years. He was honest to a fault and always said that building a long-term relationship with his customers was more important than the money.

Not only did Marvin have a love of Stamford and its people, but he also loved his country and was a proud WWII veteran having served in the US Navy. He was a long-standing member of the Jewish War Veterans and attended every meeting he could, to include being in the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Stamford.

When he wasn’t playing golf with his friends, he loved watching his favorite team play football, the NY Giants. He was a fan of the NY Mets and his all-time favorite player was Willie Mays.

He will be missed by his entire family who is spread out from The Berkshires, San Diego and Florida. The family was so honored to have his local friends nearby until the end.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marvin’s memory to the Jewish War Veterans at www.jwv.org
