It is with no little sadness and a heavy heart that I got the news of Jonathan's passing today. I had known of his illness, but the news is still hard to internalize as my memories of him are ones of vitality and a real life force. Words fail, but for a number of years during and following Jonathan's presence in my history classroom at CHHSW he and I were in regular contact; he was the only student to come to my retirement at the BOE meeting in June of 1990. He and I shared a lot outside of the classroom about his concerns, his dreams, his life and his adventures. There were regular phone calls even a failed attempt to have him visit my summer retreat in NH when his car broke down on the way there. His humor, his presence, his enthusiasm for life was always a rich blessing to me. Few of my former students stand out as friends who remain vividly in my heart and mind as much as Jonathan does. I've missed him for years, I still do while asking God's blessing on his soul, his family and friends. I have a Jonathan shaped hole in my heart....RIP Jonathan.....Much love, always WWBelfield
